You don’t need to buy dance shoes right away, but shoes with a low heel or platform and minimal grip are recommended before investing in good quality dance shoes. Salsa Rueda is a fast-paced dance that requires many spins and turns, so you don’t want a shoe that will prevent your spins with a grippy sole and potentially cause long-term injuries to your knees and ankles.
